JMD Highlights Climate Action Role at COP30

Amman, Nov. 12 (Petra) -- The Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD) made a strong mark on the global stage during the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP30) in Belém, Brazil, highlighting Jordan’s growing influence in international efforts to combat climate change and strengthen early warning systems.

During the conference, JMD Director General Raed Al-Khattab held a series of strategic meetings at the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) pavilion, focusing on future cooperation and the department’s evolving role in climate resilience.

Al-Khattab met with WMO Secretary-General Professor Celeste Saulo to discuss expanding collaboration under the "Early Warning for All" initiative. Talks also covered potential partnerships with the China Meteorological Administration to develop AI-driven early warning technologies aimed at improving disaster preparedness and risk reduction.

Professor Saulo commended the Jordan Meteorological Department for its professionalism and regional leadership, describing it as a trusted partner within the WMO network and a key contributor to global climate initiatives.

Jordan, a WMO member since 1955, continues to play an active role in advancing research and solutions in the fields of weather, climate, and water management, reaffirming its commitment to building a safer, more climate-resilient future.
